What if I miss a course? Can I make it up? If you are unable to make a course, you can travel to either Beijing, Shanghai or Singapore to make it up at another time. This flexibility is one of the benefits of the Rutgers EMBA.
Do I need to take the GMAT? Because of the limited size of each class, every application is individually evaluated and each potential candidate interviewed. Therefore, we do not require the GMAT. However, if you take the GMAT you can submit it as part of your application and it will be evaluated with your other documents.
Are the students Chinese nationals or expatriates? Classes are comprised of a mixture of approximately 60% foreign students and 40% Chinese nationals. Each class is represented by approximately 10 to 12 nationalities which provides for a unique dialogue based on cultural differences. Rutgers has been recognized for the diversity of its student body including for the last 7 years in a row being ranked #1 in diversity by US News & World Report.
How big are the classes? The class size is between 40 and 45 people. This size of class provides an optimum learning experience between the students and the professor as well as between all the students.
How often is the content updated for the individual courses? One of the key features of our EMBA is its focus on the real-world applicability of its course material. Dr. Farrokh Langdana, Director, Rutgers Executive MBA Program, states that there "is a focus on cutting edge tools that are relevant to business executives. In other words, to change our course content every year by at least 40%, to keep the program timely and relevant".
Are the professors that teach the EMBA from Rutgers or are they local professors? Yes, all of the professors are flown over from New Jersey. The professors, course content and course books and materials are exactly the same as what is used on the New Jersey campuses.
What if I need to postpone my start into the program? Should you need to postpone your start into the program, please submit a written request and the accompanying non-refundable deposit of US $1,500 (originally due upon acceptance into the program).
How can I learn more about the Rutgers EMBA Program? Monthly evening information sessions are held in both Beijing and Shanghai for anyone that is interested in learning more about the Program. At an information session, you will meet and speak with current students, faculty, alumni, and program administrators. The sessions usually run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on a weeknight. We can also arrange for a private one-on-one meeting during the business day at a time that is convenient for you.
Does Rutgers partner with another school? Yes, we have a partnership with Dalian University of Technology, one of the key Chinese universities under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education.
Are there alumni events and activities? When you graduate you join a worldwide network of over 24,000 alumni from the business school alone including over 500 in China. In Shanghai and Beijing there are monthly events such as the EMBA Workshop Series, group dinners, golf tournaments, parties and etc. The RBS alumni are a group of life long friends and associates.
Does Rutgers provide any scholarships or financial aid services? Scholarships are available for not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. In addition, United States citizens can apply for student loans. For more information on what financial aid is available we recommend that you connect directly with the Rutgers Program office in Beijing or Shanghai.
Where is the classroom? All classes in Beijing and Shanghai are held at centrally located venues that are close to subway and major bus routes.
How do I pay the tuition fee? All tuition payments are made directly to Rutgers via check, wire transfer or credit card. Students are to remit the total tuition in one or two payment installments. Upon acceptance into the Program, a non-refundable deposit of US$1,500 must be made to guarantee a place in the class.
What is the Blackboard? Blackboard is an online course management system that acts as an extension to the classroom. This system is very easy to use and provides such features as: posted course materials and announcements, discussion boards, virtual chat sessions with whiteboard functionality, email functionality, a digital drop box for students to submit assignments and online assessments. |
